I Only Rest In the Storm

Alberto, a Portuguese environmental engineer, has decided to radically alter his life’s path. He sets off for a futuristic, imagined West African city that merges elements of Guinea-Bissau and Luanda. There, Alberto takes on a challenging role working on a road project that connects jungle terrain with desert sands. Faced with harsh weather, suffocating solitude, and relentless environmental challenges, he encounters local figures Ema and Ben. Just like Alberto, they are fueled by a desire to break free from their past and rise above their circumstances. The connection he forms with Ema and Ben becomes a vital source of sanity and strength for Alberto as he navigates the overwhelming brutality and widespread chaos among expats, visible from the construction fields to NGO operations.
