Richard Bean, a celebrated Broadway performer with a reputation for selfishness, experiences a dramatic collapse and retreats to his hometown and the family theater where he first realized his extraordinary talent. Upon arrival, he is surprised to find that his father is no longer the stalwart artistic director he once was, and the theater, now managed by his brother Jon and Jon’s spouse, who serves as the town mayor, has turned into a modest dinner theater offering roast beef along with murder mystery performances.
