In 1980s England, Canon Daniel Clement, the Champton Rector, becomes unwittingly involved in a murder investigation when a body is discovered in the church. His proposal to bring contemporary changes to the church shatters the parish unity. The unsettling murder mystery deepens as another body emerges in the rear of the church.
